A step-by-step guideline on how to lodge a claim
1. What to do in the event of a MOTOR claim (Accident or Theft/Hijacking)
- The Motor Vehicle Accident Claim Form or Vehicle Theft Claim Form needs to be completed to ensure that all relevant information is provided upfront. It is imperative that the insured signs the claim form and attaches the required documents (visit our website www.aum.co.za)

- Should the insured report the claim telephonically, the appropriate claim form will be forwarded for completion
- At the scene of an accident, the insured can call 0861 988 896 (option 1) to arrange for roadside assistance and the vehicle will be towed to the nearest approved repairer. The backup number in the event of Telkom problems is 0826 008 001 Please remember to contact AUM to report the accident after the tow
- Claims must be notified within 30 days of the date of the event
- Claims arising from theft, a criminal act or an accident must be reported to the SAPS within 24 hours
- If necessary, the AUM Claims Department will appoint a motor assessor from our panel of motor assessors
- If the incident involves the replacement or repair of glass, there is no need to complete a claim form. Please contact the AUM Claims Department on 0861 988 896 (Option 3) during office hours
2. What to do in the event of a NON MOTOR claim
- The Property Loss/Damage Claim Form needs to be completed to ensure that all relevant information is provided upfront. It is imperative that the insured signs the claim form and attaches the required documents (visit our website www.aum.co.za)

- This must be done within 30 days of the date of the event
- Claims arising from theft or other criminal acts, or where persons are injured, must be reported within 24 hours to the SAPS
- In the event of a burglary claim, the alarm activation report must be provided. This must be obtained from your alarm service provider
- Where necessary, we will appoint an external loss adjuster from our panel of loss adjusters
3. What to do in the event of a GEYSER claim
- For geyser emergencies, contact our 24-hour emergency home assist number at 0861 988 896 (Option 2) for immediate assistance. Please remember to contact the AUM Claims Department (Option 3) to report the incident
